Birthdays are fun, I think...

Tomorrow, my daughter turns one year old. A whole year went past, a lot of changes came about. AND IT HAPPENED WHILE MY HEAD WAS TURNED!! I'm not saying that I wasn't there, just that it went by so quickly I feel I must have missed a bunch of something that must have been going on in the background. It amazes me now how quickly time passes now that I'm older. When I was young, the summer lasted forever, two weeks till Christmas would never pass by quick enough the days dragged on and on. Nowadays the days themselves still drag on, but the weeks and months go by at a lightning pace.
I guess it all must have something to do with your mind kicking in that we're mortal and that the end is imminent, so that when you look back you realize every day is too important to waste. And maybe your subconscious is telling you to wake up and smell the coffee when you have that "it went by too fast" feeling. Telling you that maybe you could have done something a little more meaningful with your time so you'd have more memories than just a blur and a highlight reel of memories.
